Fragments of Cambodia
Fragments of Cambodia
What follows is an interactive archive of analog photographs taken in Cambodia between 1964 and 1967.
At the invitation of his former student, Michel Marec, a professor at the École des Mines in Paris, visited the country for the first time.
His student was my grandfather, one of the first Khmer engineers trained in France.
Michel went on to photograph a world that was not his to lose.
Perhaps these photographs are what my family would have shown me if what happened next hadn't.
Fragments of a life I will never get to know.
Fragments of Cambodia.
